Today is the mark of week 1 of the Computer Hardware and Software Management Course at Bellevue University. As a software engineer, it is crucial to understand how the hardware of a computer system come to play when we develop new applications, and new websites. As for my first blog post, I would love to reflect on this quote from David Maister, which states:

“Professional is not a label you give yourself- it’s a description you hope others will apply to you.”

It is important to note that in order for others to perceive us as “professionals” we have to self-discipline in order to have a growth mindset. We have to present ourselves with proper appearances. We have to have effective communication and active listening skills. We have to be honest to others and to ourselves on goals we are not capable of doing, and finding solutions and strategies to achieving them. We have to note that even if we are “professionals”, that if when we need assistance, that it is OK to ask for help.

My name is Jeffrey and I can’t wait to continue to learn and become an expert on concepts within this course. I am excited to share my knowledge throughout these blogs so others can read, learn, and grow.
